Information Regarding Various Threats

The Windsor Police Department treats all threats reported seriously. Falsely reporting bomb/school threats violates both state and federal laws. Falsely reporting these matters can be punishable with prison time and/or cash fees.

Per website information:

Under Connecticut law, a person/group is guilty of threatening when:

1. By physical threat, the individual/group intentionally places or attempts to place another person/group in fear of imminent, serious physical injury;

2. The individual/group threatens to commit any crime of violence with the intent to terrorize another, to cause evacuation of a building, place of assembly, or facility of public transportation, or otherwise to cause serious public inconvenience; or

Threatening is a class A misdemeanor punishable by up to one year in prison (CGS ยง 53a-62). This same law appears to encompass bomb, biological, chemical, radiation, and other terrorist threats.
